Spanish for College
· This is a half year, half credit course.
· Students will become familiar with some of the important literary works of the Spanish speaking world. They will read various South American folk tales and a simplified version of Don Quijote.
· Students will develop their ability to write and speak Spanish so that they are well prepared for college study, including working on vocabulary and verb conjugations and other grammatical language concepts.
Supplies and expectations
· You need a folder or binder, paper and pen/pencil.
· You will have two text books:
o Spanish Vocabulary
o Spanish Grammar
· You will receive packets for the literature sections on folk tales and Don Quijote
· Vocabulary lists will come from the text books and may not be provided in note form. If notes are created, they will be posted on the www.wvspanish.weebly.com website
· There will be homework, quizzes and tests.
· Quizzes will assess the mastery of key vocabulary and grammatical concepts. Multiple opportunities will be given to demonstrate mastery. All sections of quizzes will allow for choice of questions completed (ex. do 15/20 = 100)
· Puntos will not be used in this class
· Opportunities will be given for points added to quizzes/tests through folding paper, flashcards, additional forms of practice as identified.
